Frances O'Grady was elected General Secretary of the TUC in November 2012, following the retirement of Paul Kenny. She is the highest-ranking woman in British trade union history, and was previously Secretary of the Stop The War Coalition. She spent much of her early career working in the Labour movement, before moving to public affairs at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) where she has worked for many years on issues related to equality, pay and pensions.
